Venn Diagram Complex:
In this type of questions, generally a Venn diagram is given. Each geometrical figure in the diagram represents a certain class. The candidate is required to study and analyse the figure carefully and then answer certain questions regarding the given data.
Illustration: In the following diagram, the square represents girls, the circle tall persons, the triangle is for tennis players and the rectangle stands for the swimmers.
On the basis of the above diagram, answer the following questions.
1. Which letter represents tall girls who are swimmers but don't play tennis ?
A. C B. D C. G D. H
Answer: C
Solution: Tall girls, who are swimmers are represented by the region common to the square, circle and the rectangle i.e., G and H. But, according to the given conditions, the girls should not be tennis players. So, the required region should not be a part of the triangle i.e., H should be excluded. Thus, the region representing the persons satisfying the given conditions is G. Hence, the answer is (c).
Illustration: To answer these questions, study the following diagram carefully :
Circle S stands for households having a scooter
Circle T stands for households having a TV set,
Circle W stands for households having a washing machine,
Circle C stands for households having a car.
The different numbers indicate the non-overlapping regions e.g. S represents union of regions 1, 11, 12, 8, 9, 10 and 6.
Households having only scooter are represented by
A. Region S B. Union of regions 1, 6 and 9 C. Region 1 D. None of these
Answer: C
Solution: The required region is the one which lies inside circle S but outside circles T, W and C i.e. 1.
A marvelous experience with Abhyas. I am glad to share that my ward has achieved more than enough at the Ambala ABHYAS centre. Years have passed on and more and more he has gained. May the centre flourish and develop day by day by the grace of God.
